Hilary Underwood, Sales/Project Manager
Growing up I was surrounded by remodel projects, which I can solely thank my parents for. So even though my search for a college degree started out undecided, I followed my heart and concentrated on what I loved; Interior Design. I received my Bachelor’s Degree at UW-Stout; majoring in Retail Merchandising & Management with a concentration in Interior Design. Right out of college I began selling flooring. I worked with customers on all sizes of projects in the Rochester Area. While seeking a job where I could work closer to our home in Owatonna, I was fortunate enough to become an Advantage Cabinets team member in 2006. I started out managing the showroom & eventually migrated into a role as an assistant designer at Advantage Cabinets & sales for Bookwalls. I learned a lot from the many people I have worked for/with over the years. I am so excited to join the sales team at ACI again and to be able to serve the community with all their design & cabinetry needs!
I reside in rural Owatonna with my husband, Jayme and our 3 daughters. We are active members of our 4-H club in Steele County and enjoy camping all over southern Minnesota. My favorite pastimes are anything crafty & creative to keep my daughters busy, running in a variety of 5K races, and being with family & friends.
I hope to get the opportunity to work with you!

At twenty years old I became a first time home owner. It was the proverbial “fixer upper”. The home improvement projects began immediately and now, many years later and in house number 3, they still continue. I’ve always reveled in the gratification of a home improvement project and that feeling of a brand new space to enjoy.
I spent ten years in various management roles with Lowe’s Home Improvement providing service to customers store wide, with direct supervision over Plumbing, Bath, Kitchen Cabinets and Appliances. I thoroughly enjoyed sharing my interest in home improvement projects with my customers and have found a perfect avenue to continue that passion here at Advantage Cabinets.
I live in Northfield, MN with my wife and three daughters. We are originally from the Southern Minnesota area, but we lived in Kansas City, KS for about seven years. We moved back to Minnesota and found Northfield to be a beautiful city to reside that was close to friends and family members in several areas of Southern Minnesota.
I would love the opportunity to work with you and bring my passion for home improvement to your service!

Growing up in the Twin Cities, I always had a hammer in my hand as a child, driving whatever nails I could find into an old board. My youth was filled with carpentry projects and of course, building a club house. As life went on, I worked for carpenters and contractors before, during and after my college years. After we bought our first home in 1999, we completely remodeled it from the ground up. This experience gave me the drive to do more and ultimately I got licensed and started my own remodeling business. As the recession of 2007 put the brakes on the construction industry, I donned a suit and tie and entered the insurance world, achieving success because of my passion for helping people. In 2014, I relocated to Blooming Prairie with my family to continue my insurance career but continued to dabble in building projects around our home. One project was as building a coop for our 6 chickens and bunny to help them battle our Minnesota winters. After 10 years as an agent, I decided to go back to my construction roots at Advantage Cabinets. I’m excited to be part of the sales and project team at Advantage Cabinets and utilize my experience and creativity, while listening to the needs of my clients.
I live in the country between Owatonna and Blooming Prairie with my wife, Amanda and our five children. We love country living and all things outdoors like hunting, fishing, camping and hiking. There is never a dull moment in our home with constant activities and projects.

I was born and raised on a family farm south of Owatonna. My first jobs were helping neighbors with
anything from baling hay to mowing lawn. Enjoying the outdoors and the farm atmosphere I decided to
attend the University of Minnesota and graduated with an Associate Degree in Diversified Ag.
Continuing to work after college I was looking for a new challenge and came to Advantage Cabinets. It
seemed like a good fit because of my love for hands on work and building things. I began as an installer
and in 1996 I was able to buy the company from the previous owner. By this time I was able to see the
many different aspects of the business and truly enjoyed going to customers’ homes and seeing them
excited about the cabinets that we were able to design and build for them.
After 25 plus years in the industry I have seen many things and feel fortunate to have hired great
people. As the leader, my goal has been presenting employees with creative opportunities and
empowering them to be successful. This has not always been easy in an economy that goes up and
down. As a group we have worked hard to ensure success with a focus on the customers we serve.
Continuous improvement is one of our core values and together we look for ways to raise the bar on
every customer experience we are involved in.
I have 4 active children. I enjoy seeing them learn new things that I do not even know. I also get the
opportunity to lead, coach, and chaperon and just be involved with the many different activities that
they do. I also enjoy working on home projects and seeing what I can create that is a little different than
anything I have seen before.
